Major Train Accident in Uttarakhand Three Coaches of Ujjain Express Derailed in Rishikesh

Post by : Shakul

A derailment incident involving the Ujjaini Express was reported near Yog Nagari Railway Station in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, after three coaches went off the tracks during a shunting operation.

Railway officials confirmed that the train was empty at the time of the accident, preventing what could have turned into a major tragedy. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

According to preliminary information, the derailment occurred while the train coaches were being moved within the railway yard area as part of routine operational procedures. Soon after the accident, rescue and railway restoration teams rushed to the spot to secure the area and begin recovery work.

Authorities stated that rail traffic in the affected section was being monitored carefully while efforts continued to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Engineers and technical staff also started inspecting the damaged coaches and tracks.

Officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact reason behind the derailment. Early reports suggest that technical or operational issues during the shunting process may have contributed to the incident, though no official confirmation has been made so far.

The incident once again raised concerns over railway safety and maintenance procedures during non-passenger train movements. Railway authorities assured that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

A major disaster was avoided because no passengers were onboard the train during the derailment. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed by railway officials.
