Tin Shed Collapse At Lucknow’s Charbagh Railway Station 3 Injured Amid Panic

Post by : Shakul

A section of a tin roof collapsed at Platform No. 5 of Lucknow’s historic Charbagh Railway Station early Friday morning, leaving three people injured and causing panic among passengers. The incident took place during ongoing redevelopment and modernization work being carried out at one of North India’s busiest railway stations.

According to railway officials, the injured included two passengers and a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) who were present on the platform when the roof section suddenly gave way. Witnesses reported scenes of confusion as commuters rushed to safety while railway staff and emergency teams responded to the situation.

Rescue personnel, along with members of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), quickly reached the site and shifted the injured individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities stated that all three victims received immediate medical attention and their condition was being closely monitored.

The roof collapse occurred amid an extensive redevelopment project being undertaken under the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). The modernization initiative aims to upgrade infrastructure and improve passenger facilities at the iconic Charbagh Railway Station, which serves thousands of travelers daily.

Following the incident, railway authorities ordered a formal safety inquiry to determine the exact cause of the collapse. Officials have also suspended the site engineer associated with the project pending the outcome of the investigation. The inquiry will examine whether all required construction and safety protocols were properly followed during the redevelopment work.

Railway officials emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority and assured the public that corrective measures would be taken if any negligence is found. Additional inspections have reportedly been initiated at the station to ensure that ongoing construction activities do not pose risks to commuters.

The incident has raised concerns about safety management at infrastructure upgrade projects across the country. Commuters and local residents have called for stricter monitoring and enforcement of safety standards to prevent similar accidents at public transport hubs in the future.
