Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded his three-day state visit to the United States on September 25 after a series of meetings and engagements with U.S. President Donald Trump. Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, departed Washington following a visit that placed US-China Relations at the center of international attention. The departure ceremony took place at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. U.S. military personnel held an Armed Forces Full Honor Departure Ceremony for Xi and Peng Liyuan before they left the United States. A 21-gun salute was also fired as part of the formal departure arrangements.
During the visit, Trump and Xi discussed several issues that have a direct impact on the relationship between the world's two largest economies. US China Trade was one of the major subjects, with both countries continuing to manage differences over tariffs, markets and economic cooperation. Artificial intelligence was another important part of the discussions. The growing competition between Washington and Beijing in advanced technology has made Artificial Intelligence a major issue in bilateral relations. Both sides have been discussing ways to manage competition while keeping communication open.
The sensitive issue of Taiwan was also part of the broader discussions between the two leaders. The subject remains one of the most important points of disagreement between Washington and Beijing, making it a significant part of any high-level U.S.-China dialogue. The visit also focused on the wider direction of China US Relations, with both governments emphasizing continued communication despite differences on several major issues.
Xi Jinping visited Washington from September 23 to 25 for a state visit at the invitation of President Donald Trump. The two leaders discussed trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan and broader bilateral relations.

The conclusion of the visit does not end the discussions between Washington and Beijing. President Donald Trump said on September 25 that he expected to meet Xi again in China in November and at the G20 in Florida in December. The three-day visit therefore becomes another important chapter in the relationship between the two countries. While trade and technology remain major areas of engagement, Taiwan and other geopolitical issues continue to require high-level communication between Washington and Beijing.
