Vietnam Women Congress Opens New Era of Empowerment

Vietnam Women Congress Opens New Era of Empowerment

Post by : Shakul

The 14th National Congress of Vietnamese Women officially opened at the National Convention Center in Hanoi on June 18. The event brought together 789 delegates representing women from different professions, ethnic groups, religions and regions across Vietnam. The congress is being held under the theme "Unity, Resilience, Compassion, Creativity and Development."

Top Leaders Attend Historic Event

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and addressed the congress. Senior Party and State leaders, former officials, heroic mothers, women military officers and representatives from ministries and organizations were also present. The event marked an important milestone for the future direction of women's development in Vietnam.

Women Continue Expanding Their Role

Le Thi Thuy, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, highlighted the achievements made during the previous term. She said women across the country have continued to strengthen their position in political, economic, cultural and social life while contributing significantly to national development and family wellbeing.

Progress in Economy and Innovation

Congress leaders noted that Vietnamese women are increasingly participating in entrepreneurship, digital transformation, innovation and economic development. Women have also expanded their contributions in education, science, technology and international integration, helping strengthen the country's growth and competitiveness.

Challenges Remain for Women

Despite significant progress, delegates acknowledged that gender inequality, violence against women and development gaps still exist in some communities. Women living in remote and ethnic minority regions continue to face economic and social challenges that require additional support and policy attention.

New Goals for the 2026-2031 Term

The congress outlined ambitious goals for the next five years, including improving digital skills, strengthening female leadership, promoting entrepreneurship and advancing gender equality. The organization also aims to expand membership, improve social monitoring activities and support women in adapting to rapid economic and technological changes.

Building Women as Drivers of National Growth

Delegates emphasized that Vietnamese women should become a major driving force behind national development by 2030. The congress launched new initiatives focused on digital literacy, family development, women's economic empowerment and innovation, aiming to unlock the full potential and aspirations of women across the country.
