Pakatan Harapan is expected to announce its full list of candidates for the upcoming Johor state election on June 22. The announcement will reportedly be led by coalition chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a special event in Johor.
Ceremony Expected in Northern Johor
Johor PKR chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the candidate announcement is likely to take place in Bukit Gambir, Tangkak. The northern Johor location was selected following encouraging public support witnessed during recent political programmes in the region.
Selection Process Involved Local Input
According to party leaders, candidate selection involved feedback from branch-level representatives to ensure those chosen have a strong understanding of local issues and a proven record of public service.
Focus on Diversity and Representation
Pakatan Harapan said its candidate lineup would include professionals, young leaders, women and representatives from different ethnic communities. The coalition aims to present a balanced team capable of serving diverse voter groups across Johor.
Coalition Targets State Government
Dr Zaliha stated that the coalition’s objective is not only to improve its previous electoral performance but also to secure enough seats to form the next Johor state government following the election.
Seat Distribution Among Component Parties
Pakatan Harapan will contest all 56 State Legislative Assembly seats. PKR is expected to field candidates in 20 seats, while DAP will contest 17 seats and Amanah will field candidates in the remaining 19 constituencies.
Election Campaign Enters Key Phase
The Johor state election is scheduled for July 11. Nomination day has been fixed for June 27, while early voting will take place on July 7 as political parties prepare for an intense campaign period.
