Islamabad: A powerful explosion hit the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan on Tuesday, injuring several people and derailing six coaches. The train, which runs between Quetta and Peshawar, was targeted near the Sultankot area, close to the Sindh-Balochistan border.
The Baloch rebel group, Baloch Republic Guards (BRG), has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was carried out because Pakistani Army personnel were on board. In their statement, the BRG said, “The train was attacked when personnel of the occupying Pakistani Army were travelling on board. Several soldiers were killed or injured, and six coaches derailed. Such operations will continue until Balochistan achieves independence.”
Rescue teams and security forces have arrived at the site, and efforts are underway to assist the injured. Videos from the scene, shared on social media, show multiple casualties, although no official death toll has yet been reported.
