Post by : Meena Ariff

Three French tourists tragically lost their lives when a boat capsized off the coast of Oman, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The incident occurred about 2.5 nautical miles from Sultan Qaboos Port, located in the Gulf of Oman. The boat was carrying a total of 25 people, including a group of French tourists, a tour guide, and the vessel’s captain.

According to the Omani police, the boat unexpectedly tipped over while navigating the waters near the port. The sudden capsizing resulted in the deaths of three French tourists, marking a heartbreaking loss. In addition to those who lost their lives, two other tourists sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.

Rescue teams quickly responded to the scene and conducted search and rescue operations to ensure the safety of the remaining passengers. Authorities confirmed that the injured tourists were treated for their injuries and were reported to be in stable condition.

The Omani police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials are examining factors such as weather conditions, boat stability, and safety protocols followed during the trip. The investigation aims to determine the cause of the capsizing to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Local authorities have expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased tourists and assured the public of their commitment to ensuring maritime safety in the region. The incident has also prompted calls for stricter safety measures and regulations for tourist boats operating in Omani waters.

This tragic event highlights the risks involved in maritime tourism and the importance of safety precautions for all passengers and operators. Further updates on the investigation and any additional developments are expected as authorities continue their work.
