A surprising encounter unfolded for a Brisbane woman, Australia, when she woke up to find a sizable carpet python resting on her while she slept.
Rachel Bloor initially mistook the considerable weight on her chest for her labradoodle. Upon touching the creature, she quickly discerned it was indeed a snake. In an interview with ABC News, she recounted the moment of realization, promptly waking her husband and urging him to illuminate the room.
Once the light was on, her husband spotted a hefty carpet python, approximately two and a half metres long, coiled on their bed. He calmly instructed her to remain still, prioritizing the safety of their pet dogs by relocating them from the bedroom while leaving Ms. Bloor with the snake.
From a distance, her husband guided her on how to carefully slide out from beneath the covers. Ms. Bloor deftly maneuvered sideways and safely exited the bed. She then assisted in ushering the python out through a window without causing it any harm.
Ms. Bloor speculated that the snake managed to ascend to the second floor of their home, pushed open a plantation shutter, and found its way onto the bed.
Having grown up on an acreage, she reported no fear of snakes, expressing relief that it wasn’t a toad, humorously adding that toads unsettle her more than snakes.
