Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki tragically passed away on Saturday, just moments before his team’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match against Rajshahi Warriors in Sylhet. The 59-year-old coach collapsed suddenly during the warm-up session, shortly before the game was scheduled to begin, leaving everyone in shock.

According to medical reports, Zaki suffered a fatal heart attack on the field. He was immediately taken to the hospital for urgent medical care. Despite the prompt response and the best efforts of the medical team, Mahbub Ali Zaki could not be saved. The devastating news of his passing reached the stadium after the match had already started, leaving players, officials, and fans deeply saddened.

Mahbub Ali Zaki was a respected figure in Bangladesh cricket, known especially for his dedication to nurturing fast bowlers. Over the years, he played a vital role in shaping and developing cricketing talent in the country. His knowledge, commitment, and passion for the sport earned him respect and admiration from players, fellow coaches, and cricket enthusiasts alike.

In honor of Zaki’s memory, both teams observed a minute’s silence during the innings break to pay their respects. The Dhaka Capitals expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and shared their sorrow at the loss of a passionate coach and mentor.
