Diddy Asks for Second Chance After Jail Says He Has Changed

Diddy Asks for Second Chance After Jail Says He Has Changed

Post by : Raman

New York, USA – Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has asked a federal judge for mercy ahead of his sentencing, describing how his year in jail has transformed him into a new man. Combs, 55, wrote a heartfelt letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, saying the old version of himself “died in jail” and he has chosen to live, learning from his past mistakes.

The star, who was arrested in September 2024 and convicted on two prostitution-related counts, stated in the letter that he is now sober for the first time in 25 years and has cleared his mind of drugs and alcohol. He said, “Prison will change you or kill you – I choose to live.” Combs emphasized that he wants a second chance not only for himself but for his seven children and his 84-year-old mother, for whom he has been the primary caregiver.

During his time in jail, Combs has focused on self-improvement. He has been reading, writing, exercising, attending therapy to address past anger and drug issues, and teaching a six-week course called “Free Game with Diddy” to other inmates, sharing his business experience and life lessons.

Combs also expressed deep remorse for his past actions, including an incident in 2016 where he assaulted then-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. He acknowledged seeing the security footage repeatedly and said, “I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.” He also apologized to a woman known as “Jane,” saying he realized the pain he caused her and felt “deeply sorry.”

The letter highlighted how Combs struggled with his downfall, admitting that his problems were rooted in selfishness, drug abuse, and excess. He described the “remorse, sorrow, regret, disappointment, and shame” as a deep wound that was difficult to forgive himself for.

While in jail, Combs missed important family moments, including proms, graduations, and milestones of his youngest daughter. He described the conditions of his Brooklyn federal detention as harsh, saying he shares a room with 25 other inmates with no windows, broken appliances, and water that must be boiled before drinking.

Combs’ lawyers argue that his year in jail has been sufficient punishment, while prosecutors are seeking at least 11 years in prison. He reminded the judge that a lengthy sentence would separate him from his family, and he promised that if given a second chance, he would never commit another crime and would make his family and society proud.

He concluded by urging the judge to make him “an example of what a person can do if afforded a second chance,” highlighting his commitment to change and the importance of family over fame or money.
