EPFO Launches Passbook Lite & Annexure K Easy OF Access Now

EPFO Launches Passbook Lite & Annexure K Easy OF Access Now

Post by : Raman

New Delhi, September 19, 2025: In a major step towards digital convenience and transparency, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched two significant updates for its members: Passbook Lite and the direct download facility for Annexure K. These initiatives are designed to make checking Provident Fund (PF) balances, tracking contributions, and managing transfers faster and easier for millions of employees across India.

EPFO, which manages PF accounts for over 2.7 crore active members, has been steadily improving its digital services. The new measures aim to reduce member complaints, streamline PF management, and provide employees with real-time access to critical information about their accounts.

Passbook Lite: Access Your PF Balance Instantly

Previously, EPFO members had to use the separate Passbook Portal to view their PF balance and contribution history. This process was sometimes time-consuming, especially during high-traffic periods, causing delays and inconvenience for members.

With Passbook Lite, employees can now view their PF balances directly from the EPFO Member Portal using a single login. This new system provides a simpler, faster, and more user-friendly interface, giving members a quick overview of their PF accounts.

Key Features of Passbook Lite:

  1. Single Sign-On: Members no longer need to switch between multiple platforms to access PF information.

  2. Quick Summary of PF Contributions: The new interface provides a snapshot of the employee's contributions, employer contributions, and total balance.

  3. Faster Loading and Updates: The simplified portal design reduces server load, ensuring faster access and smoother navigation.

  4. Detailed Records Available: Members who require comprehensive transaction history can still access the traditional passbook portal.

For example, a software engineer can now instantly confirm if her monthly contributions have been deposited, eliminating the need for manual follow-ups with the employer or EPFO.

Annexure K Download: Simplifying PF Transfers

When employees change jobs, their PF accounts are transferred using Form 13, which allows the accumulated balance to move from the previous employer’s account to the new one. During this process, Annexure K is generated by EPFO to confirm the transfer details.

Earlier, employees had to request Annexure K from the EPFO office or track it through slower methods. Now, the EPFO has made it possible for members to download Annexure K directly from the Member Portal as a PDF.

Importance of Annexure K:

  • Track Transfer Status: Members can verify if the PF transfer has been successfully processed.

  • Ensure Correct Balance: It helps confirm that the transferred PF balance and service history are accurate.

  • Maintain a Permanent Record: Downloadable Annexure K serves as an official record for future references, including retirement and EPS pension calculations.

  • Transparency and Confidence: Members can independently check their PF transfers without depending on employers or regional EPFO offices.

For instance, a teacher relocating from Delhi to Bengaluru can now easily download Annexure K, check the accuracy of her PF transfer, and maintain a digital copy for records, ensuring peace of mind.

How These Updates Impact EPFO Members

EPFO’s latest updates aim to enhance digital convenience and employee empowerment. By integrating Passbook Lite into the main portal and allowing Annexure K downloads, the organization has taken significant steps to:

  • Reduce delays in PF balance checks and transfers.

  • Minimize complaints related to PF contribution errors or missing funds.

  • Offer employees better control over their retirement savings.

  • Promote transparency and trust in the PF system.

These changes are particularly beneficial in today’s fast-moving job market, where employees frequently switch jobs and need easy access to their PF accounts. With the new features, EPFO ensures members can monitor their contributions, download critical documents, and manage transfers efficiently.

How to Use the New EPFO Features

  1. Login: Visit the EPFO Website and log in using your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password.

  2. Access Passbook Lite: Click on the “Passbook Lite” option to view your PF contributions and balance.

  3. Download Annexure K: For PF transfers, select the Annexure K download option to generate and save your transfer certificate in PDF format.

EPFO continues to encourage all members to keep their UAN activated and linked to the correct mobile number for seamless access to these services.
