In a significant precautionary measure, the UAE has extended its recall of Nestlé infant formula, specifically S26 AR GOLD, over fears of bacterial contamination.
The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) reported that this product is primarily intended for use under professional medical guidance. The recall specifically affects batches identified as 5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661.
The initiative to withdraw these products was prompted by the discovery of Bacillus cereus in one of the production inputs. This bacterium is known to generate the cereulide toxin, which can trigger foodborne ailments, resulting in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
EDE assured that all implicated batches currently in distributor storage have been secured, with ongoing actions to eliminate any remaining items from both online and offline sales channels.
In an effort to assist consumers, Nestlé has launched digital tools enabling UAE citizens to verify product batch numbers effortlessly and to request refunds or replacements when necessary.
Previously, EDE had also issued recalls for several other Nestlé baby formula varieties, including NAN Comfort 1, NAN OPTIPRO 1, NAN SUPREME PRO 1, 2, and 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2, and 3, along with Alfamino.
This latest action follows a series of quality checks conducted by UAE health authorities on Nestlé-branded infant formula products, aimed at safeguarding consumer health.
