Chhattisgarh: A devastating explosion at a steel plant in the Balodabazar–Bhatapara district has led to the loss of six workers while five others were critically injured, authorities reported on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the dust settling chamber of the facility, resulting in severe injuries and fatalities. District Collector Deepak Soni confirmed that the six workers died at the scene, with five others requiring urgent medical attention.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has reached out to the local administration to ensure that the injured receive comprehensive care. He has also demanded an extensive inquiry into the incident and pledged strict actions against those deemed responsible.
Emergency responders from police and local authorities were dispatched to the site shortly after the explosion to commence rescue efforts. The injured individuals were transported to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur for treatment.
