Fire Erupts At Gimpo Logistics Warehouse In South Korea

Post by : Shakul

A fire broke out at a logistics warehouse in Unyang-dong, Gimpo, South Korea, on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response and raising concerns among nearby residents due to heavy black smoke rising from the site.

According to local authorities, the fire started at around 2:45 p.m. inside a warehouse used to store clothing. No injuries have been reported so far, but firefighters remained at the scene working to bring the blaze under control.

Firefighters Launch Level 1 Emergency Response

Fire officials issued a Level 1 emergency response, deploying all available personnel from the local fire station to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

The warehouse consists of three steel-structured buildings with a total area of approximately 331 square metres. Emergency crews continued firefighting operations while monitoring the surrounding area.

Thick Smoke Prompts Public Warnings

Large clouds of black smoke were seen rising above the warehouse, prompting concern among residents and social media users. Many urged people living nearby to keep their windows closed and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

Authorities also advised drivers to avoid roads surrounding the affected area to allow emergency vehicles easy access.

City Issues Emergency Safety Alert

The Gimpo city government issued emergency text alerts asking residents to stay away from the fire site and advising anyone inside the affected building to evacuate immediately.

Officials also warned people with respiratory conditions to remain indoors until the smoke had cleared.
