Indian-Origin Man Charged With Wife’s Murder in East London Home

Indian-Origin Man Charged With Wife’s Murder in East London Home

Post by : Meena Ariff

A 57-year-old man of Indian origin has been produced before a UK court in connection with the killing of a woman at a house in Ilford, east London, in a case that has left residents of the area deeply disturbed.

The suspect, identified as Dalip Chadha, was detained during the early hours of Tuesday after police rushed to a property on Applegarth Drive following an emergency alert. Officers reached the location at around 4:00 am, where they found a woman inside the home who showed no signs of life. She was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities have said that while formal identification is yet to be completed, the deceased is believed to be 58-year-old Vanessa Puntney-Chadha, reportedly the wife of the accused. Her relatives have been notified of the incident and are being supported by specialist officers trained to assist families in traumatic situations.

Chadha, who lives at the same address, was arrested at the property without resistance. He later appeared before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he was formally charged with murder.

Police confirmed that the investigation into the woman’s death is ongoing, with officers continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Members of the public have been urged to share any information that could help advance the case, as detectives work to piece together the events that led to the fatal outcome.

The investigation remains active as authorities seek clarity on the sequence of events behind the tragic death.
