A major fire broke out at a sandal manufacturing factory in Tangerang, Indonesia, causing widespread damage after the flames spread to a nearby gas storage area. The incident resulted in multiple explosions and sent thick black smoke into the sky, alarming residents in surrounding neighborhoods.
The fire reportedly started inside the factory before rapidly expanding across the industrial facility. Witnesses said several loud explosions were heard after the blaze reached stored gas cylinders and chemical materials inside the complex.
Fire Spreads Rapidly Through Factory
Authorities said the flames moved quickly through the building due to the presence of flammable materials used in manufacturing operations. Firefighters were deployed to the scene and worked for hours to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
Videos circulating on social media showed massive clouds of smoke rising above the industrial area while emergency crews battled the fire.
Residents Report Health Concerns
Local residents living near the factory complained of breathing difficulties and irritation caused by the thick smoke. Health officials advised people in nearby areas to remain indoors and avoid exposure to smoke until air quality conditions improved.
Emergency services monitored the situation closely as smoke continued to affect parts of the surrounding community.
Authorities Launch Investigation
Police and fire department officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Investigators are examining whether electrical faults, chemical reactions or safety violations may have contributed to the incident.
Officials said the findings of the investigation will help determine responsibility and identify measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.

Industrial Safety Under Scrutiny
The incident has once again raised concerns about industrial safety standards and the storage of hazardous materials in manufacturing facilities. Experts say factories handling chemicals and gas supplies must maintain strict safety procedures to reduce the risk of large-scale accidents.
Authorities are expected to review compliance records and safety protocols at the affected facility.
Emergency Response Continues
Firefighters remained at the scene to extinguish remaining hotspots and ensure there was no risk of reignition. Authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding injuries or the full extent of property damage.
