Post by : Shakul

The International Space Summit 2026 officially opened on June 16 in Daejeon, South Korea, bringing together thousands of professionals from across the global space industry. The three-day event is being held at the Daejeon Convention Center and is expected to become the largest edition of the summit since its launch.

Record International Participation

Organisers expect more than 4,000 participants representing over 550 organisations from 50 countries. The summit has attracted government officials, scientists, researchers, business executives, investors and startup founders who are involved in shaping the future of the global space economy.

Platform for International Cooperation

Co-hosted by CONTEC Space Group and Daejeon Metropolitan City, the summit has become one of Asia’s leading gatherings for the space sector. The event provides an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, build partnerships and explore collaborative projects across research, technology development and commercial space activities.

Focus on Future Space Technologies

The programme includes keynote speeches, expert panel discussions, networking sessions and a large-scale exhibition showcasing advanced technologies from around the world. Discussions are focusing on sustainable space exploration, satellite technology, commercialisation strategies, artificial intelligence and future opportunities in the growing space economy.

Daejeon Strengthens Its Space Industry Role

Daejeon has emerged as South Korea’s leading centre for aerospace research and innovation. The city hosts major institutions including the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute and several defence and technology agencies. Its strong ecosystem of universities, startups and research centres has made it a key location for the country's national space ambitions.

Industry and Government Collaboration Highlighted

A major objective of the summit is to strengthen cooperation between governments and private companies. Participants are examining how public and private sectors can work together to encourage innovation, improve sustainability in orbit and expand commercial opportunities in space exploration and satellite services.

Summit Aims to Shape Future Space Development

Building on the success of previous editions, the International Space Summit 2026 is expected to generate new partnerships and strategic initiatives that will influence the future of the space industry. As global investment in space continues to grow, the event offers an important platform for shaping international cooperation and technological advancement in the years ahead.
