After the incident, Kap’s Cafe shared an emotional message on Instagram to inform people about the situation and thank them for their support. The statement read:

Who Has Claimed Responsibility for the Attack?

Reports say that Khalistani terrorists of Babbar Khalsa International have claimed responsibility for the attack. This group is a listed terrorist organisation in both India and Canada. Babbar Khalsa International was involved in the Air India 182 bombing, which was one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in aviation history.

Statement by Canadian Journalist

Canadian journalist Daniel Bordman posted on social media:

  • “Khalistani terrorists have shot up Kap’s Cafe in Surrey BC. Harjit Singh Laddi of the Babbar Khalsa International has apparently taken responsibility for the attack.”
  • He also said that this incident will be the first major security test for Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Background on Babbar Khalsa International

Babbar Khalsa International is known for its violent activities and was responsible for the Air India bombing in 1985, which killed 329 people. It is banned in India, Canada, and many other countries. The group wants a separate Khalistan nation for Sikhs and is known for using fear and violence to spread its message.

 A Time for Strong Action

The firing at Kap’s Cafe has shocked people not only in Canada but also in India, where Kapil Sharma is loved by millions for his comedy shows. The cafe team remains strong, saying they will not give up their dream of serving coffee and creating a happy place for their community.
Police continue to investigate the case deeply to find the culprits and ensure the safety of everyone in the city.
