Modi Voices Concern Over Attack Reports on Putin’s Residence

Modi Voices Concern Over Attack Reports on Putin’s Residence

Post by : Meena Ariff

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his deep concern following reports that the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin was targeted amid escalating tensions in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The incident marks a sensitive moment in an already volatile geopolitical landscape, drawing global attention to the urgent need for diplomatic solutions.

According to Russian authorities, on December 29, 2025, a coordinated attempt was made by Ukrainian forces to strike President Putin’s country residence in the Novgorod region, located north of Moscow. Moscow claimed that 91 long-range drones, reportedly operated by Ukraine, targeted the site in what Russia described as a serious escalation. However, Ukrainian officials have firmly denied these allegations, labeling the reports as false and cautioning that such claims risk undermining the fragile peace process currently underway.

Prime Minister Modi responded swiftly on social media, stressing the critical importance of maintaining diplomatic channels and dialogue. He called on both Russia and Ukraine to focus their efforts on peaceful negotiations and avoid actions that could further inflame hostilities or derail ongoing diplomatic talks.

“Deeply concerned by the reports of the targeting of the residence of the President of the Russian Federation,” Modi wrote, urging all involved parties to prioritize diplomatic engagement over military confrontation. “We urge all concerned to remain focused on these efforts and to avoid any actions that could undermine them.”

Modi’s call for calm and dialogue comes at a pivotal time when the international community is increasingly focused on encouraging a peaceful resolution to the conflict that has disrupted global security and economics for years. Many nations and international organizations have been urging both sides to return to the negotiation table and work towards sustainable peace.

The situation surrounding the alleged drone attack has intensified concerns about the potential for further escalation, with experts warning that any increase in military action could trigger broader regional instability. In this context, Modi’s emphasis on diplomacy reflects India’s ongoing commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and international stability.

As Russia and Ukraine continue to grapple with the conflict’s humanitarian and geopolitical repercussions, world leaders remain watchful and hopeful that renewed diplomatic efforts will pave the way for lasting peace. Prime Minister Modi’s timely intervention underscores the urgent need for dialogue, restraint, and cooperative engagement to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
