Perplexity AI has announced that its AI-powered Comet browser is now available to Pro subscribers in India. Previously, only Perplexity Max subscribers could access Comet. This expansion allows more users to experience smarter web browsing on Mac and Windows computers. Android users can pre-order the browser via the Google Play Store, although the official release date has not been confirmed.
How to Access Comet
Comet can be downloaded directly from the official Perplexity website for Mac and Windows devices. Users need a Perplexity Pro subscription, which costs around Rs 17,000 per year. The subscription gives full access to Comet’s features, making online research, shopping, and other tasks easier and faster.
Airtel Collaboration Brings Free Access
Bharti Airtel recently partnered with Perplexity to provide its customers with a complimentary one-year Perplexity Pro subscription. This offer allows Airtel users to use Comet without additional costs. The partnership expands Comet’s reach in India and helps more users experience AI-powered web browsing.
Intelligent Browsing Features
Comet is designed to make web browsing more productive. It provides a unified interface that understands user needs and reduces the need for multiple tabs or apps. Users can browse efficiently, making it ideal for research, comparing products, or completing online tasks.
Built-in AI Assistant
A key feature of Comet is its sidebar AI assistant. It can summarise web pages, answer queries, and perform tasks like booking hotels, sending emails, or online shopping. The assistant provides contextual responses based on what is on the screen, allowing users to interact with websites in a smarter way.
Desktop-First, Mobile Plans Underway
Currently, Comet is available only on Mac and Windows. Perplexity is discussing mobile integration with device makers. Android users can pre-order the app, ensuring access once it officially launches.
Enhancing Productivity and Engagement
Comet aims to make browsing more interactive and efficient. It reduces distractions, streamlines workflows, and helps users gather information quickly, compare products, and complete tasks without switching between apps.
The Future of Browsing in India
By expanding access to Pro subscribers, Perplexity is making AI-powered browsing more widely available in India. Features like the AI assistant and the Airtel partnership position Comet as a practical tool for smarter, more productive web use. The browser demonstrates the growing role of AI in everyday online activities.
With desktop access now available and mobile integration planned, Perplexity’s Comet browser offers users in India a faster, more efficient, and interactive way to browse the internet
