Peshawar, Pakistan – A deadly bomb blast in Peshawar on Thursday has claimed the lives of nine people and injured four police officers, authorities confirmed. The attack targeted law enforcement officials, according to Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mian Saeed. “Initial investigations suggest that the explosive device was planted along the route of a police vehicle,” he said.
Following the explosion, emergency services rushed the injured to a nearby medical facility, where their condition was described as critical. Security forces quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area to prevent further casualties. Senior Superintendent of Police Operation Masood Bangash said investigators were examining the site and collecting evidence to identify those responsible for the attack.
The blast comes just days after another deadly explosion in Quetta, Balochistan, on September 30, which killed at least ten people and injured 32 others. That attack occurred near the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters, targeting civilians and law enforcement alike. Security forces responded immediately, reportedly killing four attackers. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the blast as a “terrorist attack” and reassured the public that counter-terrorism operations are underway.
“The terrorists cannot weaken the nation’s resolve through cowardly acts,” the Chief Minister said. “The sacrifices of the people and security forces will not go in vain. We remain committed to making Balochistan and Pakistan safe. My prayers are with the martyrs’ families, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
Authorities continue to investigate the Peshawar blast, looking for the perpetrators and ensuring the safety of the area. This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies as they battle terrorism across the country.
