The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) has announced that South Korea’s domestically developed Nuri space rocket, also known as the Korea Space Launch Vehicle II (KSLV-II), will be launched on 27th November from the Naro Space Centre in the southern coastal village of Goheung.
A backup launch window has been scheduled from 28th November to 4th December. The precise liftoff time, set between 12:54 a.m. and 1:14 a.m., will be confirmed a day before the mission.
The upcoming launch is set to carry a main satellite along with 12 smaller satellites, all expected to arrive at the space centre by the end of October. This launch marks a major milestone for South Korea’s indigenous space program, and it is the first mission since the establishment of KASA as the nation’s dedicated space agency.
KASA Administrator Yoon Young-bin stressed the agency’s dedication to a successful mission, saying, “We will ensure flawless preparation and work as one team to achieve success.” The statement reflects the meticulous planning and coordination required for this complex launch.
The Nuri rocket program represents South Korea’s ongoing effort to strengthen domestic space capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign launch services. Each successful launch advances the country toward independent satellite deployment for scientific research, commercial ventures, and defense purposes.
South Korea’s growing space program highlights the nation’s ambitions to join the ranks of countries capable of conducting autonomous space missions, signaling a significant step forward in technology and innovation.
