Spotify has forecast fourth-quarter operating income above Wall Street expectations, signalling confidence in its growth strategy as it expands the use of artificial intelligence across its music streaming platform. The Swedish company expects operating income of €820 million in the fourth quarter, slightly ahead of analysts’ average estimate of €813.4 million, according to LSEG data cited in the report published on October 22, 2026. The outlook comes as Spotify looks to strengthen user engagement during the holiday season, a key period for digital entertainment and music streaming services. Investors are closely watching whether its investments in new technology can translate into stronger profitability and subscriber growth.
AI-Powered Features Drive Spotify’s Growth Strategy
Artificial intelligence has become an important part of Spotify’s efforts to personalise the listening experience. Its features include an AI DJ that creates personalised music selections with spoken commentary, along with prompt-based playlists that allow users to describe a mood or musical preference. These tools aim to make music discovery easier and encourage listeners to spend more time on the platform. Spotify is also facing competition from emerging AI music-generation services, including Suno and Udio.
Revenue and Profit Performance in the Third Quarter
Spotify reported third-quarter revenue of €4.97 billion, slightly below analysts’ average estimate of €4.98 billion, according to LSEG data. Operating income reached €672 million, broadly in line with the average estimate of €671.8 million compiled by Visible Alpha. Co-CEO Alex Norstrom said the company had delivered on its commitments, while highlighting continued investment opportunities, moderating costs and room for further growth.
