Trump’s Troop Deployment in LA Sparks Legal Battle With California Leaders

Trump’s Troop Deployment in LA Sparks Legal Battle With California Leaders

Thousands of people have been protesting in Los Angeles against President Trump’s tough immigration raids. Many are upset because families are being separated and some people are being deported. The protests have sometimes turned violent, with some businesses being looted and graffiti appearing on buildings. Because of this, the mayor put a curfew on part of downtown LA, and police have arrested hundreds of people.

President Trump sent thousands of National Guard troops and hundreds of US Marines to Los Angeles to help control the protests, even though California’s governor and city leaders said they didn’t want the military involved. The president says he has the right to send troops to stop violence and protect federal buildings, but California’s governor disagrees and has asked a judge to stop the deployment.

Some other states, like Texas and Florida, support Trump’s decision and are ready to send their own troops if needed. Many Democratic leaders from different states say sending the military is unfair and against the rules because California didn’t agree to it.

The Marines in LA have not been ordered to arrest people; their main job is to protect government buildings and workers. Most protests have been peaceful, but there have been clashes between police and demonstrators, especially at night. The situation is still tense, and a court will soon decide if the military can stay.
