Abu Dhabi — The UAE’s national spirit shone brightly at Qasr Al Hosn as President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led a special ceremony to mark UAE Flag Day, honouring a group of retired Emirati service personnel for their lifelong service and unwavering commitment to the nation.
The ceremony, held on November 3, began with Sheikh Mohamed hoisting the UAE flag as the national anthem played in the background. The historic moment captured the pride and unity that Flag Day represents for Emiratis across the country. The President praised the retired service personnel for their dedication, describing them as a valuable national asset who continue to inspire future generations with their loyalty and devotion to the UAE’s progress.
Before the flag-raising, Sheikh Mohamed hosted the veterans at Qasr Al Bateen, expressing gratitude for their service and sacrifices. He then accompanied them to Qasr Al Hosn for the official ceremony, where the flag was raised high above the heritage landmark, symbolising the unity and strength of the nation.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Sheikh Mohamed said that UAE Flag Day is a moment to reflect on the country’s remarkable journey and a reminder of the shared responsibility every Emirati holds to uphold the values that unite the nation. He emphasised that the flag embodies the country’s identity, achievements, and aspirations for a brighter future driven by the next generation.
UAE Flag Day, celebrated every year on November 3, was first introduced in 2013 to mark the anniversary of the country’s leadership and to honour the national flag as a symbol of unity, peace, and progress. Across the Emirates, government offices, schools, and communities joined in raising the flag to show pride and patriotism.
This year’s celebration at Qasr Al Hosn carried special significance, connecting the nation’s history with its future. The presence of the retired service members highlighted the importance of honouring those who contributed to building and protecting the UAE. As the flag fluttered above Abu Dhabi’s oldest heritage site, the ceremony stood as a powerful reflection of loyalty, gratitude, and hope for the generations to come.
