Umm Al Emarat Park Achieves Guinness Record for Recycled Mosaic

Umm Al Emarat Park Achieves Guinness Record for Recycled Mosaic

Post by : Maya Rahman

Umm Al Emarat Park, in collaboration with Tadweer Group, has officially broken a Guinness World Record by creating the largest mosaic crafted entirely from recycled plastic bottle caps. This remarkable accomplishment was celebrated during a special event on December 18, attended by representatives from the park, Tadweer Group, and Guinness officials.

Earlier that month, the community actively participated in this initiative by placing over 24,000 recycled bottle caps onto a specially designed wall featuring global recycling symbols. This initiative was part of the “Cap Your Way to Sustainability” campaign that encouraged schools, families, and community members in Abu Dhabi to gather caps and contribute to building the grand 25-square-metre mosaic.

Throughout two engagement periods from December 8-10, a total of 356 participants dedicated 18 hours to the project, utilizing 24,846 bottle caps. To enhance community involvement, the park offered free entry, and Tadweer Group spearheaded the design and collection efforts for the mosaic.

Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Director at Tadweer Group, expressed that this initiative deepens community awareness regarding sustainable waste management and contributes to the objective of diverting 80% of Abu Dhabi’s waste from landfills by 2030. Rasha Kablawi, representing the Park, mentioned that the mosaic epitomizes the community’s commitment to ecological stewardship and illustrates how collective efforts can yield significant results.

This record-breaking project underscores the importance of collaboration, creativity, and sustainability, motivating residents to engage in proactive measures to safeguard the environment for future generations.
