Chaos in Los Angeles: U-Haul Hits Crowd During Anti-Iran Protest | Westwood

Post by : Meena Ariff

Panic and confusion erupted in the busy Westwood area of Los Angeles after a U-Haul truck drove into a crowd gathered for an anti-Iranian regime protest, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The incident occurred during a demonstration that had drawn dozens of protesters expressing opposition to Iran’s current leadership.

According to law enforcement officials, the U-Haul vehicle entered the protest area and struck at least one individual, triggering chaos as people scrambled to move out of harm’s way. Emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the injured person was evaluated by medical personnel. Police have confirmed that no serious or life-threatening injuries were reported.

Witnesses at the scene described moments of fear as the truck moved through the crowd, prompting protesters to shout warnings and flee in different directions. Videos circulating on social media appear to show the vehicle navigating through a dense group of demonstrators before coming to a stop.

Los Angeles Police Department officers quickly detained the driver at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver or confirmed whether the act was intentional. Investigators are currently examining surveillance footage, witness statements, and the driver’s background to determine the motive behind the incident.

Police officials emphasized that the situation is still under investigation and urged the public not to speculate while facts are being established. The area around Westwood Boulevard was temporarily secured as officers ensured public safety and cleared the scene.

The protest itself was part of a broader wave of demonstrations taking place in multiple cities, reflecting heightened global tensions and political emotions surrounding Iran. Law enforcement agencies across Los Angeles remain on alert, particularly for large public gatherings.

Officials reiterated that public safety remains a top priority and encouraged demonstrators to follow lawful protest guidelines. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses and authorities release additional information.
