A massive dust storm swept across Harbin in northern China, drastically reducing visibility and blanketing large parts of the city in thick layers of dust.
Strong winds carried dense dust clouds over urban areas, turning daytime skies dark and creating near-zero visibility conditions in several locations. Dramatic visuals shared on social media showed roads, buildings, and vehicles partially covered in dust as the storm moved through the region.
Local authorities quickly issued weather alerts, warning residents about hazardous air conditions and urging them to limit outdoor movement unless necessary. Travelers were also advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and difficult driving conditions.
The dust storm is believed to be linked to strong wind systems affecting northern China, a region that periodically experiences such weather events, especially during seasonal transitions.
Officials noted that dust storms can significantly disrupt transportation networks, reduce air quality to unhealthy levels, and impact daily life, including school and work activities.
Residents were advised to wear protective masks, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep windows closed to minimize exposure to airborne dust particles.
Meteorological agencies continue to monitor the situation as conditions are expected to gradually improve once wind speeds weaken.
