Fire authorities in Shenzhen recently conducted a high-rise fire drill on a 151-meter tower, testing the effectiveness of advanced firefighting drones in emergency response scenarios.
During the exercise, tethered drones hovered hundreds of meters above the ground, transmitting live footage and critical data to command teams below. The drones were also equipped to spray fire-suppressing agents, supporting ground crews in managing simulated flames.
Officials said the drill was designed to evaluate rapid response capabilities and improve firefighting efficiency in densely built urban environments. High-rise buildings present significant challenges for traditional firefighting methods, especially when accessing upper floors.
The successful test highlights how emerging drone technology could strengthen urban fire safety systems and enhance emergency preparedness in major cities across China.
