Coal-Laden Freight Train Catches Fire In Odisha 5 Wagons Engulfed In Flames

Post by : Shakul

A major fire incident triggered panic in Odisha’s Sambalpur Railway Division after a coal-laden freight train caught fire, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and engulfing multiple wagons in flames. The incident prompted an immediate emergency response as railway authorities rushed to secure the affected area and prevent further damage.

According to railway officials, the blaze spread rapidly through several coal-loaded wagons, fueled by the highly combustible nature of the cargo. At least five wagons were reportedly damaged as flames continued to spread across the freight train, raising concerns about railway safety and cargo transportation risks.

Emergency teams from the Railway Department, along with local Fire Services personnel, quickly arrived at the scene and launched an intensive firefighting operation. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the situation under control while ensuring the flames did not spread to nearby railway infrastructure or additional wagons.

As a precautionary measure, railway authorities temporarily suspended train operations on the affected section. The move was taken to facilitate rescue and firefighting efforts while ensuring the safety of railway staff, emergency responders, and passengers traveling through nearby routes.

Visuals from the scene showed dense smoke rising from the burning wagons as emergency crews battled the fire. Officials coordinated efforts to isolate the affected portion of the train and minimize disruptions to the wider rail network.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident so far. Railway officials confirmed that all necessary safety protocols were activated immediately after the fire was detected, helping prevent a potentially more serious situation.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. The incident has once again highlighted the challenges associated with transporting large quantities of combustible materials and the importance of maintaining strict safety measures across India's busy freight railway corridors.
