Iran’s anti regime uprising comes at a brutal cost — 45 killed, 2,200 arrested

Post by : Meena Ariff

Iran is currently experiencing one of the most violent crackdowns in recent years as anti-regime protests sweep across multiple cities nationwide. Reports from local and international sources confirm that at least 45 people have lost their lives, while more than 2,200 protesters have been arrested in a harsh response by Iranian security forces.

The demonstrations, which have rapidly spread through urban centers, are fueled primarily by severe economic hardship and growing public anger against the government. Citizens have taken to the streets to express their frustration with soaring inflation, unemployment, and the declining standard of living, which many blame on the ruling regime's policies and mismanagement.

Security forces have deployed aggressively to suppress the protests, using live ammunition, tear gas, and mass arrests to break up gatherings and restore control. The crackdown’s intensity reflects the regime's determination to quash dissent and maintain authority amidst rising unrest.

Human rights organizations and international observers have condemned the violence and called for restraint, urging the Iranian government to respect the rights of its citizens to peaceful protest and to address the underlying economic and political issues driving the unrest.

This wave of protests marks a significant challenge to the Iranian government, highlighting widespread dissatisfaction and the growing demands for change among the population. As the situation develops, close attention is focused on how authorities will respond to ongoing calls for reform and justice.
