A massive fire swept through Karachi’s Gul Plaza shopping mall, killing at least 23 people and leaving dozens missing, according to officials. The blaze broke out late Saturday and continued burning for more than 24 hours, turning much of the multi-storey building into smoldering ruins. Rescue teams have been working nonstop to search for survivors, but their efforts have been slowed by heavy smoke, intense heat, and parts of the structure collapsing during the operation.
Hundreds of shops inside the mall were destroyed, causing major financial losses for traders and business owners. Witnesses described scenes of panic as people tried to escape, while firefighters battled to contain flames spreading across different sections of the complex. Emergency personnel said access to some areas remained difficult due to unstable debris and poor visibility.
Families of missing people gathered at the site, waiting anxiously for updates and hoping their relatives would be found alive. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what triggered the fire, with initial reports suggesting the exact cause remains unclear. Officials said the search and recovery mission will continue until all missing individuals are accounted for.
