A shocking incident has emerged from Odisha, where a man allegedly dug up his deceased sister’s grave and brought her skeleton to a bank. The act was reportedly done to prove that his sister had died after officials refused his request to withdraw money from her account.
According to reports, the man was trying to withdraw around ₹20,000 from his sister’s bank account. However, bank officials insisted that the account holder must be physically present for the transaction, despite being informed multiple times about her death.
After repeated rejections and growing frustration, the man, who was unaware of the proper legal procedures, took the extreme step. He reportedly exhumed his sister’s remains and carried the skeleton to the bank in an attempt to convince officials.
The incident left bank staff and locals shocked. Authorities were informed soon after, and the case quickly gained attention due to its disturbing and sensitive nature.
Experts say the situation reflects a lack of public awareness about legal processes such as nominee claims and death verification procedures in banking systems. It also raises concerns about how institutions handle emotionally sensitive cases.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many users criticizing rigid systems and demanding more humane and flexible handling of such situations.
Authorities are expected to review the matter and ensure better awareness and support systems so that such incidents do not occur in the future.
