A dramatic protest erupted outside the Iranian Embassy in London’s Kensington district as a demonstrator climbed the embassy balcony and tore down the official Iranian flag. In a symbolic gesture, the protester briefly hoisted the historic pre-1979 “Lion and Sun” flag, widely used by anti-regime groups and supporters of pro-democracy movements.
The demonstration occurred amid growing global attention to the ongoing unrest in Iran, where citizens have taken to the streets protesting clerical rule, economic hardships, and government oppression. The protest in London drew crowds chanting slogans in support of Iranian protesters, highlighting international solidarity with the movement.
London Metropolitan Police intervened promptly, making multiple arrests at the scene to maintain order and secure the embassy. Iranian authorities later restored the national flag atop the building. The incident underscores the heightened tensions surrounding Iran’s political situation and the increasingly visible international protests against the regime.
