United Flight 2323 an Airbus A321 from Chicago, loses its front wheel while landing in Orlando

Post by : Meena Ariff

United Airlines Flight UA2323, operated by an Airbus A321neo, experienced a hard landing at Orlando International Airport (MCO) after arriving from Chicago. During touchdown, one of the aircraft’s nose wheels detached, with multiple videos showing the wheel separating from the landing gear and rolling away along the runway.

At the time of the incident, the aircraft was carrying around 200 passengers and six crew members. All occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported, according to airport and airline officials.

The detached wheel temporarily blocked the runway, forcing airport authorities to suspend operations on that runway while crews secured the aircraft and removed debris. This led to short-term delays and diversions for several arriving and departing flights at MCO. Normal operations resumed once safety checks were completed.

United Airlines said it is cooperating fully with authorities and has begun its own internal review. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an official investigation to determine the cause of the nose wheel separation, including whether mechanical failure, landing forces, or maintenance issues played a role.

The Airbus A321neo involved has been taken out of service for a detailed inspection. Further updates are expected once investigators complete their initial findings.
