Inside the 10-Step Korean Skincare Ritual for Glass Skin

Inside the 10-Step Korean Skincare Ritual for Glass Skin

Post by : Saif Rahman

Korean skincare has won worldwide attention for its emphasis on healthy, well-hydrated skin and a luminous finish often called “glass skin.” Instead of quick fixes or heavy coverage, the method focuses on gradual improvement through gentle, regular care.

The regimen consists of ten distinct steps, each serving a clear purpose. Though it may seem elaborate at first, many find it becomes a soothing daily practice. The underlying intent is long-term maintenance rather than instant transformation.

The sequence begins with double cleansing. An oil-based cleanser first dissolves makeup, sunscreen and excess oils, cleansing thoroughly without stripping moisture. A follow-up water-based cleanser removes sweat, dirt and residues, leaving a fresh canvas for treatment products.

Exfoliation is introduced two to three times a week. This removes accumulated dead skin cells, reveals brighter skin and improves the absorption of subsequent serums and creams.

Toners in Korean routines are generally hydrating rather than astringent; they restore moisture balance and ready the skin for additional layers.

Essence is a lightweight, water-like step that delivers deep hydration and helps the skin maintain a soft, smooth texture. After essence, concentrated serums or ampoules address specific concerns—such as dark spots, dryness, breakouts or signs of ageing—using actives like vitamin C, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.

Sheet masks are a hallmark of this approach: thin sheets soaked in nourishing serums that provide an intensive moisture boost. Used weekly, they help the complexion look plumper and more refreshed.

Eye cream targets the thin, delicate skin around the eyes. A gentle formulation can help reduce puffiness, smooth fine lines and diminish the appearance of dark circles.

Moisturiser locks in the layers of hydration and protects against dryness. The final, non-negotiable step is sunscreen: daily SPF prevents ultraviolet damage, reduces the risk of pigmentation and helps ward off premature wrinkles.

The philosophy behind the routine stresses patience and steady application. Its strengths are in gentle layering, consistent hydration and tailoring products to your skin type.

Practised over time, this ritual can lead to clearer, more radiant skin. Ultimately, consistency, considered product choices and attentive care are what create that sought-after glass-like glow.
