A 3.0 magnitude earthquake has hit the region close to San Ramon, located in Contra Costa County, California. This seismic event was logged by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) on the evening of December 19, 2025, at precisely 7:57 pm local time.

Striking at a shallow depth of approximately 2.9 miles, the quake heightened the probability of it being felt in neighboring communities. Experts caution that the details—magnitude, location, and depth—could be updated as they continue to monitor the data.

In addition to the USGS, two other prominent seismic organizations confirmed the occurrence. The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) matched the quake at magnitude 3.0, while the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) indicated a slightly higher magnitude of 3.1.

Initial evaluations indicate that there were no reports of damage from the earthquake. Nonetheless, residents in the vicinity likely experienced light shaking due to the shallow nature of the quake.

Mild tremors may have been perceived in San Ramon and Dublin, both about 3 miles from the quake's center. Other nearby communities that might have noticed slight shaking include Danville, Pleasanton, Castro Valley, Hayward, and Livermore, all situated within an 11-mile range.

Cities further from the epicenter, such as San Francisco and San Jose, were unlikely to have felt the earthquake's impact.

Authorities report no injuries or significant damage so far, but residents are encouraged to remain vigilant for any potential aftershocks.
