On December 3, 2025, Abu Dhabi will host the exhilarating Eid Al Etihad 40ft Rowing Challenge, celebrating the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad with a thrilling competition that pays homage to the nation's deep-rooted nautical heritage.
This year’s event is particularly noteworthy as it coincides with the announcement of the Zayed National Museum's inauguration in the Saadiyat Cultural District. The racecourse spans three nautical miles, starting from Reem Island and featuring notable landmarks such as the Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum, culminating near the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
A remarkable lineup of 68 boats and 1,156 sailors will take part in four heats, with each boat representing a different color of the UAE flag. The total prize pool exceeds AED2.4 million, with earnings of AED80,000 and a golden boat replica for the first place, AED70,000 and a silver replica for second, and AED60,000 along with a bronze replica for third, in addition to prizes for other participants.
This rowing race not only highlights outstanding athletic prowess but also promotes the key values of Emirati culture—team spirit, endurance, and communal unity. It brings together seasoned sailors and emerging talent, creating a lively celebration of national pride on the water.
The Eid Al Etihad Rowing Challenge is a reflection of Abu Dhabi's dedication to preserving its traditional marine sports while providing a stunning festive spectacle that brings together citizens and residents in celebration.
