Abu Dhabi Champions Smart Mobility through Global Collaborations

Abu Dhabi Champions Smart Mobility through Global Collaborations

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Abu Dhabi is propelling itself into the future of transportation. At the DRIFTx 2025 event, part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week, Abu Dhabi Mobility announced a series of strategic partnerships with both local and international entities to reshape the emirate's mobility landscape.

These alliances aim to create a cohesive and intelligent transport system incorporating autonomous vehicles, innovative air mobility, marine transport, and cutting-edge digital infrastructure. By tapping into avant-garde technologies, Abu Dhabi is set to assert its dominance as a frontrunner in sustainable and autonomous transportation.

Ensuring Cybersecurity and Safety

A pivotal collaboration with the Cyber Security Council aims to fortify Abu Dhabi’s smart mobility framework. This partnership encompasses threat intelligence sharing, coordinated responses to cyber threats, specialized training initiatives, and public outreach activities, thereby securing a robust digital structure for autonomous operations.

Integrating Autonomous Vehicles

Abu Dhabi Mobility has teamed up with Tensor Auto Inc. to roll out autonomous vehicles within the emirate. This agreement guarantees both regulatory and technical support for safe on-road operations, nurturing a conducive environment for self-driving innovations. Concurrently, a collaboration with Benteler Mobility will test mini robo buses, assessing the infrastructure and operational viability for large-scale autonomous transport.

Pioneering Air Mobility

The city is also venturing into the skies. A partnership with SkyDrive, a Japanese developer of eVTOL technology, centers on pilot operations, vertiport establishment, and the development of smart charging stations for electric vertical take-off and landing craft. These initiatives aim to weave air mobility into Abu Dhabi's comprehensive transportation matrix.

Enhancing Automated Transit Systems

With a tie-up with Glydways, Abu Dhabi is initiating trials for autonomous mass transit systems, aimed at improving first- and last-mile connectivity while curbing reliance on traditional transport methods. The project also encompasses setting standards and regulatory guidelines for these novel technologies.

Innovations in Marine Mobility

The emirate is also making strides in smart maritime solutions. A joint effort between Blue Gulf Group and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office will explore autonomous marine vessels, conducting feasibility studies and field trials to ensure alignment with safety and environmental regulations.

AI and Traffic Management

In collaboration with e&, Abu Dhabi Mobility is deploying AI-driven drones for real-time traffic oversight. These drones facilitate traffic management, monitor congestion levels, and respond promptly to incidents, promoting a safer and more efficient road environment.

Advancing Smart Logistics
Abu Dhabi Mobility and Sinaha Technology are pioneering autonomous solutions for freight, such as self-driving trucks and heavy-lift drones, thereby enhancing logistics efficiency while minimizing emissions.

Through these strategic alliances, Abu Dhabi is setting high standards for integrated smart mobility, paving the way for safety, sustainability, and advanced technology across land, air, and water transport.
