Abu Dhabi has solidified its status as a beacon of smart and autonomous technology by hosting the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW) 2025. Over the course of six days, the emirate attracted more than 15,000 participants from around the world, bringing together policymakers, investors, innovators, and researchers to delve into state-of-the-art autonomous solutions spanning land, sea, and air.
The event was composed of four significant segments: the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, DRIFTx, RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, and the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL). Each segment highlighted innovations designed to reshape industries, improve mobility, and quicken the commercial rollout of autonomous systems.
During the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, 400 leaders from national and international platforms discussed the essential frameworks for policy, safety, and regulation surrounding autonomous technologies. Key announcements included the integration of Tensor Auto’s Level 4 Robocars into the city’s transport network and the launch of the emirate’s inaugural vertiport network for eVTOL operations. Strategic agreements were forged in areas like autonomous logistics, smart ports, fleet automation, and advanced aerial mobility with notable global partners, including Archer Aviation, Aramex, and ADNOC.
The DRIFTx event, held at Yas Marina Circuit, brought these technologies to life through live demonstrations. Attendees experienced autonomous robotaxis, humanoid robots, eVTOLs, and solutions for last-mile delivery. Collaborative showcases with Uber and WeRide provided opportunities to ride in self-driving vehicles, while robotics advancements from K2 and MOTON underscored Abu Dhabi’s research capabilities.
In parallel, RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025, hosted by Khalifa University, drew over 700 participants from 166 teams across 22 countries. Competitions highlighted humanoid soccer, disaster-response robots, autonomous rescue drones, and sustainable AI solutions, showcasing the emirate’s increasing influence as a center for AI and robotics talent.
The week concluded with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, featuring six fully driverless race cars competing in a momentous Grand Final. The AI-driven vehicles achieved lap times closely approaching human performance, exemplifying the safety and precision of autonomous systems under demanding conditions. Teams from Germany, Italy, and the UAE participated, marking a milestone in the realm of autonomous motorsports.
ADAW 2025 demonstrated Abu Dhabi’s dedication to transforming ambitious technological concepts into real-world applications. Through strategic partnerships, live demonstrations, and cross-sector cooperation, the emirate is fostering a sustainable ecosystem where autonomous technologies are actively shaping the future.
