Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider has shared positive news regarding Bo Bichette's potential return for the World Series, which commences with Game 1 on Friday. Bichette, a critical offensive player for Toronto, could significantly influence the team’s success if he receives medical clearance. Schneider remarked that the team is diligently monitoring his condition while evaluating how to best integrate him into the game plan.
After clinching victory in Game 7 of the ALCS, Bichette made it clear he aspires to be part of the World Series roster. Initially not a major discussion point in preceding series, Schneider affirmed that Bichette's potential inclusion is becoming a serious consideration as the championship games near.
Schneider pointed out that Bichette maintains a realistic view of his fitness, saying, “In talking with Bo, he’s quite aware of how he feels and how he might perform if he steps onto the field.” The manager underscored the necessity of heeding the player's insights regarding his readiness.
Deciding the optimal position for Bichette in the World Series lineup is still under evaluation. Schneider mentioned that placing him at second base could present challenges, and the team is deliberating options to maximize his chances for success. They plan to continue discussions following Bichette's workout, which will assess his comfort and readiness for high-stakes moments.
At 27 years old, Bichette is a two-time All-Star and has dedicated his entire major league career to Toronto. In 2025, he boasted a batting average of .311, an on-base percentage of .357, a slugging percentage of .483, hitting 18 home runs and driving in 94 runs over 139 games. His prowess has established him as a vital athlete in the Blue Jays' offensive strategy.
Across his career, Bichette has held a .294 batting average, a .337 on-base percentage, and a .469 slugging percentage, compiling 111 home runs and 437 RBIs in 748 games. His consistent output makes him an indispensable asset as the Blue Jays gear up for the World Series.
Schneider asserted that the final call regarding Bichette's participation hinges on the results of his workout and his self-assessment of readiness. “We’re getting close to a final decision,” Schneider remarked, affirming the team’s commitment to balancing player safety with opportunities for enhanced performance during the championship.
If given the green light, Bichette's presence could significantly elevate the Blue Jays’ lineup. Schneider is deliberating various scenarios to ensure that Bichette can contribute most effectively, striking a balance between team objectives and player health in the World Series.
