In a candid revelation, actor Dhruv Vikram, the son of renowned actor Vikram, reflected on his experiences in the film industry and the extensive preparation behind his upcoming film, Bison Kaalamaadan. Directed by Mari Selvaraj, this much-anticipated project released in theaters on October 17 and is set to make its Telugu debut on October 24. Dhruv, along with co-star Anupama Parameswaran, recently engaged in promotional events in Hyderabad.
The Reality of Being a Star Kid
During a press briefing in Hyderabad, Dhruv addressed his status as a “star kid.” While he recognized that his family background affords him certain advantages, he underlined his determination to gain acceptance from the audience purely through hard work.
“I am a star kid, and I have access to opportunities. However, my primary focus is on gaining people's acceptance, love, and respect for my work in Tamil, Telugu, and Indian cinema. My commitment to this journey is unwavering,” he expressed.
He insisted that his acting philosophy involves constantly gauging his efforts against those from non-film backgrounds, ensuring his dedication is on par or surpasses theirs.
Preparing for Bison Kaalamaadan
Diving into his role for Bison Kaalamaadan, Dhruv detailed the depth of his preparation. He often envisioned how an actor without a film heritage or even a professional kabaddi player would approach this opportunity, and he pushed himself to meet that standard.
“In this project, Bison specifically, I often thought about how someone from outside the film industry would labor for such a role. I consistently kept that mindset throughout my preparation. Moreover, if a kabaddi player was in my shoes and had the chance to work with Mari Selvaraj, I pondered how much effort they would exert, inspiring me to do my utmost,” he articulated.
This unwavering dedication illustrates Dhruv’s quest to carve out a distinct legacy based on skill and hard work, steering clear of merely depending on his family's fame.
Working with Mari Selvaraj
He expressed deep appreciation for collaborating with the distinguished director Mari Selvaraj, whose craftsmanship is celebrated within Tamil cinema. Dhruv characterized the experience as both demanding and fulfilling, emphasizing the director’s focus on authenticity and intricate performances
Co-star Anupama Parameswaran also praised the collaborative spirit on set, noting that Dhruv’s ardor encouraged the entire cast. The film’s ensemble has been lauded for delivering powerful realism and intensity.
Telugu Release on the Horizon
The Telugu version of Bison Kaalamaadan is set to grace theaters on October 24. Dhruv and Anupama are actively promoting the release in prominent Telugu-speaking areas, aiming to expand their audience and demonstrate the film’s broader appeal.
Fans are eagerly looking forward to Dhruv Vikram’s performance, expected to blend raw athleticism, emotional resonance, and a narrative style that reflects his off-screen diligence.
Dhruv’s reflections shed light on the distinctive challenges faced by star kids in Indian cinema. His focus on hard work, humility, and the desire to achieve recognition based on merit underscores a resolute approach to building a sustainable career across Tamil, Telugu, and wider Indian cinema.
As Bison Kaalamaadan approaches its Telugu release, Dhruv Vikram’s journey serves as a reminder that while lineage may open doors, enduring dedication, resilience, and talent truly shape a lasting legacy.
