Hollywood has lost one of its durable talents: Diane Ladd has died aged 89. The actress, admired for her wide range and longevity, left a lasting mark on cinema.
Her daughter, Laura Dern, announced the news in a heartfelt message, describing Ladd as an “amazing hero” and “the greatest gift of a mother.” Ladd passed away peacefully at her home in Ojai, California, with family at her side. Officials have not released a cause of death.
Across a career exceeding six decades, Ladd delivered standout performances in films such as Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart, Chinatown and Primary Colors. She earned three Academy Award nominations and won deep respect from peers and audiences alike.
Beyond the big screen, Ladd worked steadily on television and the stage, proving a remarkable emotional range and adaptability throughout her career.
Tributes poured in online from fans and fellow actors, celebrating her talent and the warmth she brought to her work. Laura Dern summed it up, saying, “Her light, love, and artistry will live on forever.”
