Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, has surprised many with its box office performance. Released during the Diwali festival, the film kicked off strongly and has maintained steady collections without a significant drop, which is often a hurdle for mid-budget productions.
In its first three days, it garnered ₹22.75 crore net domestically. On its fourth day, Friday, it collected an additional ₹5.5 crore, amounting to a modest 8% decrease from Thursday. Over four days, the film’s total domestic earnings stand at ₹28.25 crore net. Given its production budget of ₹25 crore, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has successfully recouped its investment and is set to profit in the coming weekend.
Competing against Maddock Films’ Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, this romantic drama has certainly held its ground. Despite Thamma having a higher budget and fewer screens, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has surpassed expectations, showcasing significant audience engagement.
Directed by Milap Zaveri, the film features Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles, supported by Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. The plot weaves a romantic tale filled with emotional highs and complicated relationships, appealing to viewers seeking drama and romance over the festive period.
Despite receiving mixed to negative critiques, with some reviewers discussing clichés in the narrative and melodramatic scenes, audience reception has been generally favorable, evident in its box office results.
With the positive buzz continuing and a holiday weekend on the horizon, the film is anticipated to further increase its collections. Analysts are optimistic, suggesting it might conclude its theatrical run with noteworthy profits, marking it as one of the standout mid-budget successes during Diwali this year.
This film’s success underlines a significant trend: content-driven mid-budget features can thrive against larger productions when the storytelling resonates with audiences, regardless of critical feedback.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat shows how timely releases, engaging storytelling, and star power can markedly boost box office results, setting a precedent for future filmmakers in the romantic drama sphere.
