Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, xAI, is currently in advanced discussions for a fresh equity infusion of $15 billion, which could elevate the company’s valuation to approximately $230 billion, as indicated in an investor report released on Tuesday.

This funding proposal was reportedly shared by Jared Birchall, Musk’s trusted wealth manager, during a private briefing held Tuesday evening. It remains uncertain whether the $230 billion figure presented pertains to pre-money or post-money valuation; however, this represents a significant increase from xAI’s previously disclosed valuation.

The last significant update for the company occurred in March, when xAI integrated with Musk’s social media platform X, establishing its valuation at $113 billion. The new figure indicates a robust investor interest as the competition in the AI sector heats up across the tech industry.

When approached for comments, xAI provided an automated response asserting, “Legacy Media Lies.” Reuters reported their inability to independently verify the funding details, and attempts to contact Birchall for further clarification were unsuccessful.

If this new funding round is finalized, it would position xAI among the elite global AI enterprises, joining major competitors that are rapidly developing advanced AI models. These discussions follow Musk’s dismissal of a recent CNBC report claiming that xAI was in pursuit of $15 billion at a $200 billion valuation, which he labeled as “false.”

As negotiations are still underway with no official confirmation, investors are closely monitoring whether this deal will solidify xAI’s swift ascent and how the company intends to utilize one of the largest fundraising efforts in recent AI history.
