Major Safety Recall: Ford Pulls 108,000 Vehicles Off U.S. Roads

Major Safety Recall: Ford Pulls 108,000 Vehicles Off U.S. Roads

Post by : Saif Rahman

In a significant move, Ford has declared a recall in the United States, affecting approximately 109,000 vehicles. This decision comes after federal safety officials flagged issues associated with a loose component at the vehicle’s rear that poses a risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) communicated the recall on Friday, stating that the concern revolves around a poorly attached liftgate hinge cover.

This recall targets specific models of the Ford Escape produced between 2020 and 2022, including the latest 2025 model. According to the safety regulator, the liftgate hinge cover may not be secured properly. Should it detach while driving, it risks falling onto the roadway, endangering other motorists.

Ford dealerships will address this concern at no cost to owners, inspecting the hinge cover to either reinstall it or replace it if missing. This initiative aims to prevent any detached parts from becoming a hazard, helping to maintain driver safety.

In an additional recall, nearly 12,000 Lincoln MKT models from 2016 to 2019 are also affected. The NHTSA indicated the risk of the driver and front passenger door trim becoming loose, potentially distracting the driver or impairing vehicle control, thus increasing the likelihood of an accident.

Such recalls underscore the necessity for manufacturers to act swiftly in the face of safety concerns. Even minor components, when loose, can pose significant dangers to drivers, passengers, and the public. Ford's initiative to rectify these issues free of charge highlights its commitment to customer safety.

The automobile industry has witnessed numerous recalls recently, often stemming from minor issues that could escalate if neglected. This latest announcement serves as a crucial reminder for drivers to stay informed about recalls and seek repairs proactively.

As one of America’s longest-standing automobile manufacturers, Ford faces fierce market competition. Upholding safety, a solid reputation, and consumer trust are pivotal for the brand. By responding promptly to these challenges, Ford demonstrates its dedication to ensuring safety and addressing problems before they escalate.

Affected owners of Ford Escape and Lincoln MKT models are urged to get in touch with their local dealerships for a complimentary inspection. Proactive measures could significantly reduce the risk of incidents, ensuring safer driving experiences.
