The Indian women's blind cricket team has made a remarkable entry into the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s T20 World Cup, triumphing over the USA with a decisive ten-wicket victory. This achievement marks India's fourth straight win, signaling their strong performance and readiness as they head toward the knockout rounds.
For the USA Women’s Blind Cricket Team, this match represented their historic debut in the World Cup arena. Formed recently through a collaboration with Indian cricket organizations, the team showcased players who were identified and trained, illustrating a burgeoning interest in blind cricket in the USA. Despite their newcomer status, the USA players exhibited resilience and determination throughout.
Choosing to bat first, the USA accumulated 60 runs for 8 wickets over their allotted 20 overs. The Indian bowling and fielding unit displayed exceptional skills and team coordination, maintaining consistent pressure throughout the innings. Notable innings for the USA included Tatyana scoring 17 runs off 41 balls (B2) and Caroline contributing 12 runs off 26 balls (B2), but they struggled to prevent their wickets from falling. India's bowlers, including Simranjeet Kour (B2), Sunita Srathe (B2), Simu Das (B1), and Ganga Kadam (B3), effectively took wickets and limited the scoring opportunities with impressive fielding play.
While chasing a target of 61 runs, India completed their task in just 3.3 overs without losing a wicket. Simranjeet Kour, named Player of the Match, powered through with an unbeaten 31 runs off 12 balls (B2), supported by Kavya N.R (B3) who scored 21* off 12 balls. Their innings solidified India's dominance, leaving the USA team with no chance to reclaim control.
Following this victory, India gears up for a highly anticipated semifinal showdown against their long-standing rivals, Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday in Colombo. This match is expected to attract significant attention from fans across the globe, as India seeks to sustain their impressive form while aiming for the championship title.
While this match underscored India’s dominance, it also highlighted the USA's spirited entry into the sport, indicating rising global interest in women's blind cricket. The young American squad's determination showcases the sport's potential for growth and the need for more inclusive cricket initiatives worldwide.
India’s impressive win over the USA reinforces their position as a leading contender in the 2025 Women’s Blind T20 World Cup. As the semifinals draw near, the team's focus remains firm on extending their winning streak while chasing the ultimate title. The USA’s debut, though it ended in a defeat, signifies a crucial milestone for the expansion of women’s blind cricket on an international scale.
