Celebrate International Men’s Day: Your 48-Hour Boys’ Adventure in Singapore

Post by : Saif Rahman

Marking International Men’s Day provides a great opportunity to unwind and connect with friends. Instead of opting for the usual night out, many are now seeking out thrilling getaways to relax and forge new bonds. Singapore has emerged as a favored destination, known for its dynamic attractions, culinary delights, vibrant nightlife, and stunning landscapes. This carefully crafted 48-hour itinerary presents a fun and invigorating escape for friends in Singapore.

Offering the ideal mix of novelty and comfort, Singapore is a clean, secure city with incredible food and activities catering to all tastes. Whether your group appreciates nature hikes, indulging in street food, coffee spots, lively bars, or immersive cultural experiences, Singapore ensures a well-rounded yet unhurried adventure.

Mornings here typically start with a peaceful ambiance, especially in places like Joo Chiat, noted for its colorful heritage shophouses. A morning stroll, complemented by kaya toast and kopi, sets a delightful tone before the city enters full swing. The leisurely morning transitions into a bustling day as the group discovers diverse neighborhoods, food courts, and charming eclectic bars.

Day 1 – Morning Thrills at MacRitchie Reservoir

For a refreshing kickoff, a visit to MacRitchie Reservoir is an excellent option. Spanning over 2,000 hectares within the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, this expansive area features challenging trails suitable for hiking, stair climbing, and even a breathtaking suspension bridge that soars above the forest.

The TreeTop Walk—a 250-meter suspension bridge soaring 25 meters above the ground—provides stunning vistas of the forest canopy. On the trails, participants can enjoy vibrant birdlife, lush greenery, and possibly spot playful macaques. This is an immersive nature experience where your body actively navigates hills, boardwalks, steps, and bridges.

Trail Timings:

Prunus, Petai, Chemperai Loop: Daily, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

TreeTop Walk:

Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Location:
MacRitchie Natural Trail, Singapore

Post-hike, visitors often prefer to savor a hearty breakfast at Roti Prata House on Upper Thomson Road before continuing their adventures.

A Culinary Experience at Old Bibik’s Peranakan Kitchen

In the afternoon, the group can move to Old Bibik’s Peranakan Kitchen in Joo Chiat, celebrated for its authentic Peranakan or Nyonya cuisine that harmonizes Malay and Chinese traditions. The dishes are homemade and bursting with rich, aromatic flavors. Fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, tamarind, belacan, and galangal enhance the depth of each meal.

Signature dishes include Ayam Buah Keluak, known for its earthy flavor, and Nyonya Laksa, a delightful coconut-based noodle soup infused with spices and prawns. For a satisfying option, try the Nyonya Bento Rice Set, which presents an assortment of traditional items on one plate.

Timings:
Daily, 11:30 am – 9:30 pm

Location:
328 Joo Chiat Rd, #01-02, Singapore

Following lunch, a short walk to CATA Coffee allows guests to enjoy a cup from their weekly curated brews, providing a tranquil conclusion to the afternoon.

An Adventure That Feels Fresh and Relaxed

The beauty of a brief journey to Singapore lies in the seamless transitions from one experience to another. From nature trails to cultural dining, bustling streets, and soothing cafes, the city caters to every mood. A boys’ trip here is not only memorable but also filled with new discoveries, all while being laid-back and pleasant.

With more fun such as vintage sidecar rides through Chinatown and Geylang, alongside Singapore's vibrant nightlife and hidden bars serving creative drinks, the adventure flows into the evening. The city lends itself to spontaneous moments, crafting memories that linger well after you leave.

As International Men’s Day becomes a time for reflection, connection, and celebration, Singapore shines as a destination offering joy, vibrancy, and cultural richness— all within just 48 hours. This proves that sometimes, the most meaningful trips aren’t necessarily the longest, but those filled with shared moments that leave lasting impressions.
