Due to forecasts predicting significant rainfall, the Ministry of Education has declared that all government, private, and international schools in Musandam Governorate will shift to online learning starting tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16, 2025. This proactive measure is in response to expected heavy rains, with some regions anticipating up to 60 millimeters beginning early morning. This decision follows warnings issued by the National Centre for Emergency Management aimed at safeguarding students and staff during severe weather conditions.
The transition to remote classes enables students to continue their education without the risks associated with traveling in hazardous weather. School officials are being encouraged to ensure readiness among students and teachers for this arrangement, facilitating seamless lessons from home.
Residents of Musandam are urged to remain vigilant, keep abreast of weather announcements, and undertake necessary precautions during the anticipated heavy rains. Caution is advised in outdoor activities as certain roads and low-lying areas may experience water accumulation.
The Ministry reiterated that this directive applies universally to all school types, emphasizing the priority of safety amid adverse climatic conditions. Parents and guardians are encouraged to assist students in engaging with online classes and adhering to school communications.
This temporary move to distance learning underscores Oman’s commitment to safeguarding its students and staff while ensuring educational continuity during extreme weather. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates regarding the resumption of in-person classes.
