Dubai Completes Major Security Prep for New Year 2026 Celebrations

Dubai Completes Major Security Prep for New Year 2026 Celebrations

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Dubai is all set for the grand New Year’s Eve 2026 festivities, having implemented a comprehensive security, transport, health, and municipal strategy to provide a safe, remarkable experience for both residents and tourists.

This announcement was made by the Dubai Event Security Committee (ESC) during a press conference at the Dubai Civil Defence Headquarters, with attendance from key officials from various government and partner organizations tasked with organizing and securing one of the world's most viewed New Year celebrations.

This year's celebrations will feature fireworks at 40 popular locations across the emirate, totaling 48 individual displays. Major sites include Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Frame, Al Marmoom Oasis, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Emirates Golf Club, and Hatta, among others.

Comprehensive Security Operations Across Dubai

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and Chairman of the Event Security Committee, confirmed that 55 governmental, semi-governmental, and private organizations are collaborating within a unified security framework.

Dubai has been segmented into four operational areas — North, Central, West, and Marine — to facilitate efficient coordination and swift responses. Additionally, 37 assistance tents will be stationed at celebration locales, providing police services, first aid, lost-and-found assistance, guidance for visitors, and care for lost children.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow safety guidelines, cooperate with security personnel, and respect traffic regulations. Emergency cases can be reported by calling 999, while any non-emergency inquiries should be directed to 901.

Special viewing zones have also been arranged for laborers in conjunction with the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, which will feature large screens and meals to ensure organized participation.

Law Enforcement and Emergency Preparedness

Dubai Police will deploy 9,884 officers, assisted by 1,625 patrol vehicles, 53 marine security boats, 36 bicycles, and 34 mounted patrol units, ensuring coverage on land and sea.

Meanwhile, Dubai Civil Defence has made extensive preparations, mobilizing 1,754 firefighters throughout the emirate. Celebration zones have been divided into five sectors — Deira, Bur Dubai, Central Dubai, Jebel Ali, and the Waterfront Sector — complemented by 26 Civil Defence stations, 156 specialized vehicles, and 12 marine firefighting boats. Over 306 essential facilities have been inspected to ensure adherence to safety protocols. Emergencies can be reported at 997.

Traffic Management and Metro Operations

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed complete readiness for traffic control and public transportation, especially in Downtown Dubai and around the Burj Khalifa. Collaborative teams from RTA, Dubai Police, Civil Defence, and Dubai Ambulance Services will operate from the Unified Control Centre.

Road closures will commence at 4 pm, progressively extending until 11 pm, affecting key routes including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Asayel Street, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and surrounding roads.

Public transport capacity has been significantly boosted, with over 14,000 taxis, 18,000 limousines and luxury vehicles, and 1,300 buses ready for use. The Dubai Metro's Red and Green Lines, as well as the Dubai Tram, will run continuously for 43 hours to ensure smooth transportation during the celebrations.

Healthcare and Ambulance Services Standby

Dubai Ambulance Services has activated 236 ambulance points across Dubai and Hatta, equipped with specialized vehicles, marine units, electric and bicycle ambulances, air ambulance support, and a mobile medical warehouse. A team of 635 staff and 50 trained First Responder volunteers will assist in high-density areas. Ambulance services can be requested via 998 or the Dubai Ambulance app.

Dubai Health has deployed 1,900 medical and support personnel, placed six hospitals and four clinics on high alert, and set up a fully-equipped field hospital in the Burj Khalifa area, including pediatric services.

Municipal Services, Media Coverage, and Volunteer Efforts

Dubai Municipality has implemented a citywide strategy focusing on public cleanliness, food safety, and services at beaches and parks. Certain public beaches will be family-only, while 14 public parks will remain open until 1 am. Notably, fireworks and drone shows will debut from the Dubai Frame this year.

Dubai Media Incorporated is set to broadcast the celebrations globally, featuring a unique program, Fihobi Dubai, alongside live coverage and highlights of the UAE’s achievements in 2025.

Emaar Properties has confirmed total readiness in the Burj Khalifa district, and 1,800 volunteers from over 30 nationalities have registered to assist Dubai Police operations across critical celebration areas.
